Frequently asked questions
Why can't most sites open HEIC photos directly?
HEIC is a newer format that not every browser, server, or piece of software has built-in support for, unlike JPEG which is decades old and universally supported. Converting to JPEG sidesteps that gap entirely.
Why does HEIC conversion take longer than other tools on this site?
HEIC uses more complex compression internally, so decoding it in the browser takes noticeably more processing than a straightforward JPEG or PNG conversion, especially on older devices.
Will I lose photo quality converting HEIC to JPEG?
