A photo that comes out sideways or upside down is one of the most common small annoyances after scanning a document or importing photos from a phone that didn't record orientation correctly. This tool lets you fix that in seconds: use the quick 90°, 180°, or 270° buttons for a straight turn, or drag the slider for a fully custom angle — handy for straightening a slightly crooked scan rather than just flipping it a quarter turn. The canvas automatically resizes so nothing gets cropped off when you rotate to an in-between angle. As with every tool on this site, the whole process happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API — your photo is never uploaded anywhere, and you can preview the result before downloading.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the canvas size change when I rotate?

Rotating a rectangular photo to an angle that isn't a multiple of 90° means its corners stick out past the original frame, so the output canvas expands to fit the whole rotated image without cropping anything off.

What is the difference between the quick buttons and the slider?

The 90°/180°/270° buttons snap straight to those exact angles — useful for a photo taken sideways or upside down. The slider lets you dial in any angle in between for a straightened or creatively tilted result.

Does rotating reduce image quality?

Rotating by exact 90° multiples is lossless. Rotating by an arbitrary angle does involve some resampling at the edges (like any rotation), but it's a one-time, high-quality redraw — not a repeated lossy operation.
